Sorry I haven’t posted in awhile. Major oversight on my part. I’ve been working on a couple of things. Some films and some just general production work. I will be posting regularly again now though and I’ll update everyone on all the projects I’m working on.
Also, I’ve been playing a lot of poker… I’ve even managed to start a new blog of this called Poker Penguin.
Anyway… I’ll be back to regular posting starting this week… Also, I haven’t forgotten my other site filmthesouth.com, expect more postings over there too as there is quite a bit of news going on right now about productions in the south, especially in Louisiana.

Billy Slaughter, the prominent New Orleans actor, has committed to playing the lead of Charles Archer in David S. White’s next film entitled “Losing Janice.” The film is about Charles Archer’s search for his wife, Janice, who was abducted by aliens. This plan is short lived though when he is captured by the same aliens. What happens next is an adventure of twist and turns as the aliens to try to convince Charles that his wife is not captured, but that it’s all just in his head.
Billy Slaughter is a renowned actor who has appeared in major productions such as “Stay Alive,” “Click,” and “Happy Here and Now.” In 2004 during the production of “Runaway Jury,” Dustin Hoffman hired Billy to be his personal stand in took him under his tutelage. Billy is also an award winning Shakespearian stage actor.
“The part of Charles Archer is a challenging role for any actor and I can think of no better to rise up to the challenge than Billy Slaughter,” said writer/director David S. White. The story “Losing Janice” is adapted from his published short story of the same name.

Tonight I went to a special screening at Sip (the wine market located on 3119 Magazine St) to see a special kickoff event for the Spirit of Humanity Festival which is taking place on Saturday October 14, 2006 and Sunday October 15, 2006 at the Ashe Cultural Arts Center. The event is part of the Charitable Film Network which hopes to better the independent film community in New Orleans.
The lineup of films is impressive and based on the two short shorts that I saw tonight, I can’t wait to see the rest.
Please go check it out…
October is shaping up to be a VERY BUSY MONTH for film!
