Penguin Productions, LLC was started in Feburary of 2005 by David S. White. The first production for Penguin Productions was Sex Between Us, however, not David’s first film.

Bitten by the writing bug at the early age of 12, after reading The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien and remarking to his father that he was amazed how the story played like a movie in his head and crying when the Dwarves died at the end of The Hobbit, David began writing short stories. After numerous recogintion and awards throughout high school, he eventually went on to major in creative writing at the University of New Orleans while annoying professors who neither understood or liked sci-fi. After college, he immediately went to work for a large computer consultanting company, figuring that it was better than starving and working in a Barnes and Noble. During that time, he neither wrote much or even thought about movies.
Then one day, after deciding that he had to get back to his passion of writing, he was having coffee with an ex-girlfriend and she told him about a story she’d like to see. After thinking about it for a month or so, David decided that the only way to properly tell it was visually. Later that week, he took a legal pad and pen to the local coffeeshop and started writing his first screenplay. Eventually after three months of writing every night, the purchase of some script writing software, some books about screenwriting, and his finished his fourth draft; he was hooked. Deciding that the only way he would ever see this script made was to make himself, he immediately went out and bought books on how to be a film maker and started making films.

Now, he made six short films. His third short film was accepted to the New Orleans Film Festival for 2005. Unfortunately, due to the events after Katrina, that film festival never happened. However, that film, called The Date, will show at the 2006 film festival on October 12 – 19, 2006.
Sex Between Us was shot on July 2nd and 3rd of 2005, but again due to the circumstances of Katrina, hasn’t been completed until just this year. It premiered August 31, 2006 at the Howlin’ Wolf in New Orleans. The even will help raise funds to enter Sex Between Us in film festivals around the world.
